Personal + Professional Growth

Have you ever noticed that what we learn about ourselves in our personal lives often carries over into our professional lives?

Melody Beattie talks about this in her book “The Language of Letting Go”:

“Just as I have had to deal with my feelings and messages about myself in relationships, I have had to deal with my feelings and messages about myself, and what I believed I deserved at work.”

As a career coach, I often invite my clients to consider current areas of growth in their personal lives, and how those themes might be showing up in their career journeys.

Here are a few examples:

  • Using your voice to self-advocate for what you need and deserve.

  • Setting boundaries by choosing to stop overextending yourself, especially when it’s not acknowledged or appreciated.

  • Opening yourself to the possibility of a change that aligns more deeply with your true desires.

  • Trusting that you’ll be OK, no matter what happens.

  • Walking away from something that no longer serves you as an act of self-love.

What growth edges are present in your own life right now? Do you see any parallels between your personal relationships and your career?
