LinkedIn’s New AI Job Search Tool
Have you started using LinkedIn’s new AI-powered job search tool yet? I have, and I’ll be honest, I’m not in love (at least not yet).
It’s currently in beta and being rolled out gradually. You can still access the “classic” search experience, but it’s worth getting familiar with the new version since it will likely replace the old one before long.
👉 The biggest change? Many of the familiar job search filters are gone.
You’ll notice that options like…
Experience level (Entry Level, Mid-Senior Level, Director, etc.)
Job Type (Full-time, Part-time, Contract, etc.)
Remote (On-site, Hybrid, Remote)
Location
Industry
Job Title
Salary
…are no longer available as clickable filters. Instead, you will need to include these details in your search prompt, much like you would with ChatGPT or any other AI tool.
💡 Pro tip: Treat the search bar like a conversation and build your criteria into the prompt. It doesn’t have to sound pretty, it just needs to be specific. For example:
“Mid-senior level, full-time, on-site administrator role in Los Angeles, CA, healthcare industry, salary over $100K.”
You can add a specific job title as well, or leave it open to see what titles come up in the search.
A few final thoughts:
✅ You’re not limited to LinkedIn. There are dozens of job boards out there, and some of the best opportunities are found on smaller, niche boards that focus on a specific industry or role.
✅ But LinkedIn still has a big advantage. Its real superpower isn’t the job postings. It’s the ability to quickly identify people in your network (or extended network) who work at companies you’re interested in. Reaching out to those connections can be a game-changer in landing interviews.
Have you tried the new AI job search tool yet? Do you love it, hate it, or fall somewhere in between? I’d love to hear how you’re adapting.
You got this!
